Pacific delegation - Schedule and roles

2nd Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction

The Pacific Delegation at the Global Platform: Schedule and Roles

  • The participants from the Pacific region attending the Global Platform for DRR form one regional delegation that includes representatives from Pacific Island Countries (PICs), and members of the Pacific DRM Partnership Network.
  • The members of the Pacific Delgation (PD) are guided by the below schedule that identifies key events which the PD intends to cover at the GP and the roles of individual members, as appropriate. The schedule will be developed in close consultation with PICs representatives and the Pacific DRM Partnership Network and is coordinated by SOPAC/UNISDR.
  • To ensure the PD is well coordinated throughout the duration of the GP, brief daily meetings during the evening hours will he held, except on the first evening (Monday 15 June) when a joint dinner will be organized. These meetings will provide opportunities for feed-back and for adjusting the schedule/roles as appropriate.
  • Delegates representing the PD in selected events/sessions of the GP will provide brief (1/2 page) reports on the key results and recommendations of the session and how they might apply to the Pacific.
  • Members of the PD will take turns in looking after the Pacific region’s DRR Market Place. An exact schedule will be developed.
  • Upon return from the GP, the PD will prepare a summary report of its engagement at the GP with recommendations and lessons learned for follow-up. This report will be coordinated by SOPAC/UNISDR and disseminated to the members of the Pacific Regional Platform for DRM.
