2010/02 - Firefox 3.6 fixes

PDN displays get adjusted to the new version of the Firefox browser (3.6).

 

2009/12 - PDN Alternate Wiki on Google Application Engine

Due to power outages during natural disasters (eg: Tropical Cyclones, Earthquakes etc) in the Pacific, Pacific Disaster Net has an alternate emergency repository located in the Google cloud, which ensures alerts and disaster-related information are available, regardless of ICT infrastructure status in the region.

http://pdn.appspot.com/ will be activated in case of unexpected downtime of PDN.

Main page

  • Google maps / Google earth integration
  • - with different displays – Hybrid, Map, Terrain, Satellite, Earth (whereas Earth needs the Google Earth Plugin to be installed)
  • - Zoom to – Pacific Countries
  • CAP integration (Common Alert Protocol)
  • - Real time Alerts (zoom to … or close window)
  • Home icon in Pacific Region tab
  • Search History tab (instead of History)
  • Navigation – Entries with Tooltip on Tree panel for instructions ('Double-click on blue icon to expand. Single click on label to show documents’ – when hover mouse over entry)

  • Media tab (instead former Videos now as well prepared for Audio files)

Create new document - workflow

  • In temporary pool
  • Document upload
  • Basic cataloging info provided by user (Basic Admin user level or higher)
  • Title and Source of Acquisition are mandatory fields
  • Fields Filename and Filesize are read-only
  • Record gets stored in Temporary documents (Admin – and needs to be migrated from there)

2009 Workplan

  • Undertake development of on-line version of the RFA Monitor and Partner Capability Statements
  • Preparation for country missions with training and content collection
  • Prepare Evaluation / Surveys

  • Evaluate National Event databases – filter / link from PDN into national URL (web address to maintain ownership)

  • Enhance PDN Contact information and include TAF/OFDA trainings contacts (depends on TAF/OFDA agreement / timing)

  • Evaluate Calendar / Scheduler Enhancement

  • Evaluate / Develop NDMO Country site – adapted Country page (Session / discussion during Regional Meeting, follow up during country missions – test and finalize afterwards)

  • Evaluate Events enhancement – to include baseline and assessment data (depends on decision on baseline data set, assessment form/s and country evaluation)
  • Establish and enhance communication / information out of PDN
