Earthquake in the East of Taveuni

An earthquake occurred in Fiji this morning (08.09.10) at about 04.14am. 
The earthquake was located at about 72.2km East of Taveuni (Latitude 16.9 
degrees South and 179.1 degrees West). The earthquake originated at a 
depth of 22km below the surface and it measured 5.8 on the Richter scale. 
Reports felt in Taveuni, Savusavu and Labasa but no threat of possible 
tsunami to be triggered. 
The analysis is based on the detection techniques by the seismology unit of 
the Mineral Resources Department.
