THE Weather Office has predicted rain for parts of the country and is requesting
farmers to remain cautious of what they plant.
Director of Meteorology Rajendra Prasad said there was a "moistening" flow over the
group that was expected to bring in rain.
While El Nino has kept the country dry in most of this year's wet season, Mr Prasad
said he could not rule out the possibility of rain or even a tropical depression or
cyclone in the coming weeks.
The dry season starts in May and Mr Prasad said the country would continue to feel
the effects of El Nino.
For the western parts of the group, afternoon and evening showers should be
expected.
Over the past few weeks, the office has recorded rainfall in various parts of the
country.
However, Mr Prasad said that while it may be good for vegetation, it was not enough
to fill dams or ensure a good flow of rivers.

The weather man said farmers should be cautious planting crops or vegetables that
didn't require much water.
Earlier this year, the office declared certain parts of Fiji to be under "meteorological
drought", which meant they were consistently receiving below average rainfall.
