:1am
Sunday: Tsunami watch issued for Fiji. Estimated time of arrival 10am but reaching
Lau an hour earlier.
2.46am:
Second tsunami bulletin issued. Tsunami watch remained in force for all low-lying
areas
3.30am:
National Emergency Operation Centre issues its first public advisory. Estimated
tsunami wave to enter Fiji waters at 8.30am and in Suva at 10.04am.
4.45am:
Third bulletin issued. Tsunami watch remained in force for Fiji. People advised to
move to higher ground.
5.50am:
Fourth bulletin issued. Tsunami watch remained in force for Fiji. People advised to
move to higher ground. Warning of potentially dangerous tsunami waves.
6am:
Ministry of Health Disaster Response Command Centre activated.
8.15am:
Fifth bulletin issued. Tsunami warning in force for Fiji. People advised to move to
higher ground. Warning of potentially dangerous tsunami waves.
9am:
Bulletin six issued with warning still in place. People advised to move to higher
ground. Warning of potentially dangerous tsunami waves.
- Health headquarters alerted medical officers in charge of the CWMH, Lautoka
Hospital, Labasa Hospital, Kadavu, Rotuma, Lomaiviti, Lakeba: Kabara, Ono-I-Lau,

Cicia, Moala, Matuku, Lomaloma, Wainibokasi, Nausori Maternity Unit,
Serua/Namosi - Contingency plans for main hospitals activated as well, in the event of
mass casualties and long working hours for staff currently at work.
9.45am:
Bulletin seven issued. People advised to move to higher ground. Warning of
potentially dangerous tsunami waves.
10.30am:
Public advisory issued by DISMAC. People along the coast advised to stay away from
beaches for the next 4-6 hours, stay out of the water (sea, rivers, including boating
activities), not to go sightseeing, share this information with neighbours, friends,
listen to the radio, television for updates, follow instructions of DISMAC and Police
10.45am:
Tsunami bulletin eight issued. Warning remained in force
11.45am:
Warning cancelled.
