The multi-sectoral team that visited Vangunu and Nggatokae Islands in the Marovo Lagoon on
Monday and Tuesday this week found only three houses collapsed in Pejuku and Maenia
villages.
Tiqe and Ninive on Vangunu and Kavolavata, Sobiro and Tengomo on Nggatokae reported none
or minimal damages.
Agriculture reported gardens were not affected but Sobiro’s water source had been damaged by
the 6.9 aftershock on Tuesday night 5th January.
As such, the team said, the source’s flow is slow.
The health team said there were no serious cases except a few red-eye and coughing cases in one
or two villages.
The health sector rep in the assessment team has recommended early interventions to prevent
further cases is a priority.
Next sitrep will be issued Friday 15
th
January.
