DISMAC briefs government on cyclone Mick

The Disaster Management Committee this morning briefed a team of senior government 
officials and Cabinet Ministers including the Prime Minister and His Excellency the 
President on the extent of devastations brought about by Cyclone Mick. 
DISMAC also briefed Government officials on the planned activities for evacuation 
centers in the various divisions including the national disaster assessment, aimed to 
ascertain the damages so far. 
DISMAC Acting Director Pajiliai Dobui said that the areas that were mainly affected 
were Yasawa, Viti Levu, Kadavu and Lau. 
"As of this morning, the total number of evacuees stands at 3845, the Western Division 
has recorded the most with 2081," he said. 
Mr Dobui also said that the Commissioners in the 4 Divisions were allocated $10,000 
each which includes rations to the evacuation centers.  
Highlighting the number of casualties confirmed so far, the Acting Director said that 
Cyclone Mick has so far claimed 2 lives.
