LOCAL AVAILIABILITY OF ENGINEERING BUILDING EQUIPMENT

1.
As discussed at the Reference I have been tasked to make contact with local building
material retail stores to assess what building materials are able to be sourced locally. Any
stores sourced locally will minimise freight costs, minimise delays in freighting building
equipment and assist Samoa’s economy.
Water Tanks

Polyethylene Water tanks are manufactured by Rotamould (SAMOA) Ltd
. Current stock is limited however they can produce 3 per day 3,5 or 10 Ton Water tanks. Ranging in price from $7,325- $2865 WST inclusive of GST. They also
have a large amount of raw material to manufacture these tanks.
Bulk Diesel Fuel

PPS Shell has 7.5 Thousand Tons of bulk Diesel with a tanker coming in every two
weeks. Managing Director of PPS has stated that he can fill all orders over the coming weeks.
Aviation Fuel
4.
The main Faleata Airport holds 300 Tons of Aviation fuel.This is topped up by daily by
PPS main bulk fuel storage which has 2200 tons of bulk aviation fuel. Again a tanker comes
every two weeks to Samoa.
Building Equipment

There are several hardware building supply centres within Samoa however the main two
chains are Bluebird and ACE Hardware, between them they import 250 cubic metres of
timber every 2 weeks. At present they have a large amount building timber and associated
building supplies in stock including, plumbing equipment including toilets, electrical cabling,
lights power points, light switches etc.

Both Hardware chains have approx 2 thousand bessa blocks available. The blocks are
made locally. This company can make approx 1000 blocks per day and have minimum 8,000
blocks ready made at there depot.

Roofing iron is also fabricated locally here and large amounts of roofing iron are
currently in store at both hardware chains. ACE hardware also import 18 metre roofing iron
from Australia.

Apia concrete products supplies ready mix concrete, concrete materials and pre cast
concrete blocks as required. They have a number of trucks available and have a large amount
of raw material on hand to cover any order.
