Project Objectives
1.
Provide multiple stakeholders in Fiji with
relevant, timely and consistent baseline data
for disaster preparedness and response as
well as for risk reduction;
2.
Develop an agreed methodology and capacity
for rapid multi-cluster needs assessment and
in-depth cluster needs assessments following
natural disasters, and
3.
Develop tools and procedures that guide the
management of information during response
operations and for the planning of disaster risk
reduction measures.
Project approach
• Building on existing capacity and initiatives
• Relevant and specific to Fiji
• Multi-organizational support
• 1 – 2 years
• Pilot project for replication in other PICs

Workshop Objectives
• 3 days to kick off the DIMS project
• Common understanding of Disaster Information
Management Systems
• Partners discuss/agree on:
– Key needs and objectives in IM for DRM
– Project approach and structures (working groups)
– Broad set of activities: indicative work plan
– Organizational commitment
– Indicative inputs and resources
• Initial focus on baseline information and rapid
assessment
